The reason we built it

The problem with uploading

Most online converters start with an upload. Your file goes to a server you cannot inspect, then you wait for the result and hope every copy gets deleted.

For a flyer, that is fine. For a signed contract, a medical letter, a bank statement or a photographed passport, it is a strange thing to do, and most people do it because the alternative is installing desktop software they do not want.

Background script

Handles setup and toolbar actions. Your files stay in the workspace tab.

Zipping

Pack files together, or open them back up.

Create ZIP and Extract ZIP work with files beyond PDFs. Use them in the add-on or in the website demo. Both process files on your device.

Pack

Create ZIP

Add one or more files, arrange their order and save them in a single archive.zip. The files you chose are not changed.

Unpack

Extract ZIP

Choose one ZIP archive. Sheet Zip unpacks every file inside and shows each one as a result you can save.

The workspace page

Your documents never leave the page

When you open a supported file in Sheet Zip, the workspace reads the copy already on your device. The tool code is included with the add-on, so the work does not need a conversion server.

Save the finished file wherever you like. Your original stays where it was, and Sheet Zip does not keep a server copy to delete later.

The background script

The background script never sees your files

Browser extensions have background code that can outlive a page. Sheet Zip keeps file contents in the workspace instead. The background code does not receive the file, its name or its contents.

Your work stays in the tab where you opened it. That applies to both the PDF and ZIP tools.

Why this matters for some documents more than others

For a flyer or a public report, uploading to a converter is a perfectly reasonable thing to do. The calculation changes for a signed contract, a medical letter, a bank statement, a tax return, or a photographed passport. Those are documents where handing a copy to an unknown third party is a decision worth making deliberately rather than by habit.

Sheet Zip exists so that common file jobs do not require making that decision at all.
