About this tool
Merge
Join several PDF files into a single document. Drag the files into the order you want before you run it, so the result comes out arranged the way you intended rather than the order you happened to add them.
A set of attachments becomes one file you can send in a single message.
Pages are copied without redrawing them. Check the result if you need links or form fields to work.
Split
Break one long document into several smaller files. You choose how many pages land in each one, so a single page per file gives you every page separately, and a larger number gives you evenly sized chunks.
Useful when only part of a report is relevant to each person you are sending it to, and you would rather not send everyone the whole thing.
Pages are copied without redrawing them. Check each result if interactive content matters.
Extract pages
Pull a specific range of pages into a new PDF. Ranges are written the way page numbers are printed, so 2-5 gives you four pages, 1,4,7 gives you three, and 6- runs from page six to the end.
Faster and more accurate than rebuilding a document by hand when someone asks for just the appendix.
Ranges are one-based and inclusive, matching the page numbers you can see.
Rotate
Turn every page a quarter turn, a half turn, or three quarters. The usual reason is a scanner that fed the stack in sideways and produced a document nobody can read without tilting their head.
The rotation applies to the whole document at once, which is almost always what you want after a bad scan.
Resize
Fit every page to a standard paper size so a mixed set of documents prints consistently instead of coming out at four different scales.
Resize redraws each page rather than transforming it. Your text stays selectable, but links, comments and form fields are dropped. The interface warns you when you pick this tool.
Compress
Try to reduce a PDF's file size before sharing it. Sheet Zip explains the tradeoffs before you run either mode.
The careful mode re-saves the document and strips metadata. The stronger mode turns every page into an image and can make the file smaller. If the result would be larger, Sheet Zip keeps the original.
Careful mode keeps your text selectable and searchable.
Stronger mode permanently removes selectable text, because each page becomes an image. You are warned before it runs.
PDF to images
Turn each page into a PNG or JPG. Handy when a page needs to go into a slide deck, a report, or a message where a PDF attachment would be awkward.
Every page comes out as its own image file, numbered in order.
Images to PDF
Combine a set of images into one PDF, a single image per page. This is the tool for the folder of receipt photographs, the pile of scanned notes, or the paperwork you photographed rather than scanned.
The images are placed in the order you arrange them, so the finished document reads in sequence.
Extract text
Pull the selectable text out of a PDF as a plain text file you can search, quote, or paste somewhere else.
It reads the text layer that is already in the document. A scanned page with no text layer has nothing to extract, and this tool will not invent one.
Create ZIP
Add any files, arrange their order, and download one ZIP archive. The originals stay where they are.
For this browser tool, the combined input must be 1 GB or less.
Extract ZIP
Choose one ZIP and unpack every file inside it. Download each result separately. Folder names are removed, and repeated file names get a number.
Encrypted ZIP files are not supported. The unpacked contents must be 1 GB or less.
