Try Merge This is an illustration. The demo works with real files.

Sheet Zip works with the file already on your device. Open it in the workspace, choose what to do, then save the result. The work happens in your browser tab.

Alongside the PDF tools, Sheet Zip can create and extract ZIP archives. More tools for spreadsheets and images are planned, and they will follow the same local approach.

There is no upload queue or server quota. Large files still depend on what your own device can handle.

The tools

The tools available now

Work with PDFs and ZIP archives in one workspace. Add your files, choose your options and save the result straight to your computer.

Merge

Join several PDF files into a single document. Drag the files into the order you want before you run it, so the result comes out arranged the way you intended rather than the order you happened to add them.

Split

Break one long document into several smaller files. You choose how many pages land in each one, so a single page per file gives you every page separately, and a larger number gives you evenly sized chunks.

Extract pages

Pull a specific range of pages into a new PDF. Ranges are written the way page numbers are printed, so 2-5 gives you four pages, 1,4,7 gives you three, and 6- runs from page six to the end.

Rotate

Turn every page a quarter turn, a half turn, or three quarters. The usual reason is a scanner that fed the stack in sideways and produced a document nobody can read without tilting their head.

Resize

Fit every page to a standard paper size so a mixed set of documents prints consistently instead of coming out at four different scales.

Compress

Try to reduce a PDF's file size before sharing it. Choose between keeping text selectable and flattening pages to images. If neither makes the file smaller, Sheet Zip keeps the original.

PDF to images

Turn each page into a PNG or JPG. Handy when a page needs to go into a slide deck, a report, or a message where a PDF attachment would be awkward.

Images to PDF

Combine a set of images into one PDF, a single image per page. This is the tool for the folder of receipt photographs, the pile of scanned notes, or the paperwork you photographed rather than scanned.

Extract text

Pull the selectable text out of a PDF as a plain text file you can search, quote, or paste somewhere else.

Zipping

Pack files together. Open them back up.

These tools work with more than PDFs. Use them in the Firefox add-on or try them here in the website demo.

Create ZIP

Add any files, arrange their order, and save them together as one ZIP archive. Your original files stay as they were.

Extract ZIP

Open one ZIP archive and unpack all the files inside. Each file appears as a separate result you can save.

Stays with you

Your files never need to leave your device.

Open a file from your computer, do the work in Sheet Zip, and save a new copy. Your original stays where you left it.

No document upload. No waiting for a server to send your work back.

Before you click

Telling you what things cost

Compress and Resize can make lasting changes to a document. Both explain those changes before you run them.

A smaller file that silently lost something is worse than a slightly larger file you understood.

Compress

Compression has two modes with different tradeoffs. The careful mode re-saves the file and strips metadata while keeping text selectable. The stronger mode turns each page into an image, which can reduce file size but removes selectable text from the output. If the result would be larger, Sheet Zip keeps your original file.

  • Careful modeText stays selectable
  • Stronger modeSelectable text removed
Resize

Resize redraws pages. Text stays selectable, but links, comments and form fields are dropped. The interface warns you when you select the tool. Merge, split and extract copy pages without redrawing them, but you should check the saved result if interactive content matters.

  • KeptSelectable text
  • DroppedLinks, comments, form fields

Free, and what that means

The whole toolkit is free to use. There is no paid tier, no page quota, no account and no watermark. Pick a tool, finish the job and save the result.

Made for

Who this is for

People who handle documents they would rather not upload: contracts, medical records, financial statements, identity paperwork, legal correspondence. Students assembling readings before a deadline. Anyone who has photographed a stack of paper and wants it as one tidy document.

It is also for people who simply resent the pattern of uploading a file, watching an advertisement, and being offered a subscription to do it again next week.

What it does not do

Sheet Zip does not do optical character recognition. Extracting text reads the text layer already in the document, so a scanned page with no text layer has nothing to give and the tool will not invent one. It does not edit text inside a PDF, and it does not sign documents.

  • Optical character recognition
  • Editing text inside a PDF
  • Signing documents

It handles everyday PDF jobs locally, so you can finish your work without sending a document away.
